Mock Trial Team Shines at CompetitionThe High School Mock Trial Team recently received the semi-finalist trophy at the Annual Law Day One-on-One Moot Court Competition.

Competing against 16 teams from Suffolk and Nassau Counties, the team remained undefeated with an outstanding six wins and zero losses during preliminary rounds.  The group continued their impressive run winning a spot in the quarterfinals as well as in the semi-final round.

“Only four teams made it to final rounds, and Longwood’s results were unrivaled,” said co-advisor Diane Eisen.  “Congratulations to all performers on their outstanding performances.”

Held at Northport High School, participating teams acted as the defense or plaintiff to demonstrate their knowledge of law and courtroom procedures in a trial case that involved issues relevant to young people. Judging was handled by local attorneys and judges based on criteria including preparation, performance, and professionalism.

This annual tournament was hosted through the Law, Youth, and Citizenship Program and was sponsored by Touro College School of Law.
